t-minus two weeks (maybe four weeks) and counting

Hey all,

I had my 38 week Dr appointment today. Everything looks good. The little one's heart beat was at about 130. S/he kicked our midwife during the doppler. What a pest! :)

I asked about Braxton Hicks contractions because I am pretty sure over the past 24ish hours I have been having them with a vengeance. She said that is probably what it is, though definitely not labor pains because that wouldn't be a question. So that's exciting.

She did tell me that I tested positive for group b strep. Not the end of the world- just a little disappointing. The goal will be to get two doses of antibiotics into my system 4 hours apart before the bean comes. Not the end of the world if I have a really quick labor (here's hoping) but that's what they shoot for. I was mostly disappointed because I was worried that meant that I would have to be hooked up to the iv during my entire labor and she told me that was not necessarily the case so that was a relief.

And then, before I could stop her, she proclaimed her prediction (educated guess?) that this little noodle of mine will be 8 1/2 pounds. I did NOT want to know that. I think sometimes ignorance is bliss but it's out there. After seeing Jess's baby ( 8 1/4 pounds) I realize that it's not THAT big but. . . oh well.

And final I found out that all of the discomfort I was feeling on my pubic bone is totally normal. She told me that the pubic bone is actually two bones separated by some cartilage and as you get close to birth the cartilage softens and can cause the bones to rub together while walking. So, it's totally normal AND another indication that this baby will in fact be born at some point. . . just in case you were worried.

That's all for now. :) Have a great weekend everyone!
