What we did on our Christmas Vacation

I promised another picture update so here we go. . .

Rob, baby and I had a wonderful Christmas Eve and Christmas this year. We continued our Christmas "Marathon" tradition (we wouldn't let a little thing like pregnancy slow us down.) Christmas Eve day we went to an afternoon movie with My family. We saw Yes Man and it was pretty darn funny. Then we drove to Rob's parents house for their annual Christmas Eve party. It is always a good time. We headed home from there around midnight so that we could be home Christmas morning to open presents at our house. We set the alarm for 7 AM and tried to cram in as much sleep as possible before round 2. Unfortunately our good night's sleep was interrupted by another power outage and Rob had to get up and find a battery powered alarm clock so that we would be late on our tight Xmas morning schedule. With the alarm set we curled back up to sleep and thankfully the power came back before we woke up.

Christmas morning we got up to open presents. Rob got new split fins for diving and a rip stick skateboard for days that are too windy at the drop zone. He also got a ship to shore radio which he is very excited about among other things. I got some awesome Jammies (a set with nursing the baby in mind) some great socks for the hospital (i do love socks!) as well as a book and cd I really wanted. The best gift, from Santa, was a two night get away in North Conway for our 9 year dating anniversary and New Years. Very exciting.

After gifts at our house we traveled back to my parents house to do gifts with them. We were spoiled rotten there getting a lot of amazing stuff for the baby and a digital video camera. We were so lucky. Then it was off to a 1 pm "dinner" with Rob's family as well as some Christmas Strays. Our very good friends Sean and Jess, Jay and Laura and their friend Amelia joined us for dinner there as well. After dinner our friends went home to enjoy the rest of their Christmas at their respective houses and the Lombardi family traveled to Super Aunt Mary's house for dessert. Several hours later we went back to Rob's family's house where we opened presents together and Rob and I were once again spoiled rotten- getting lots of amazing gifts for the bean (including a toddler car seat) and some more scuba stuff for Rob. Overall it was an amazing, though exhausting two days. We left Rob's parents house to head home that night as Rob was getting up at 6 AM to go skiing. We arrived back to our house exhausted and content around midnight. (And for those of you who are interested: Rob and I traveled 323 Miles and about 6 1/2 hours for that marathon according to google maps) There are pictures of our Christmas adventures but they are currently on our misplaced camera. Sorry.

We are very lucky because Rob's company shuts down for Christmas break and so this year we have had 10 wonderful days together. Rob has been skiing twice and unfortunately has not yet been able to go diving. He spent a lot of time in the nursery and was able to get that finished! (see previous post).

On Tuesday the 30th Rob and I headed north for our getaway! We were really glad to get away and just spend two days together with nothing to do and nothing pulling us away from each other. (the three months of work in the nursery was making us feel like we never saw each other any more!) Rob had us booked at a bed and breakfast that was built in 1773. We had the largest room in the house with our own private entrance, Jacuzzi tub (because Rob read that pregnant women like Jacuzzis) and a gas fire place. Breakfast was served from 8- 9:30 and consisted of plain or blueberry pancakes, french toast, regular toast, cereal, oatmeal, Juice, coffee, tea and hot chocolate. They served afternoon tea and coffee with pound cake from 4-6:30 daily. We also got $25 dollars off at a very nice restaurant at their sister B&B down the street. We were very excited to discover that they had openings for new year's eve reservations still!
While in North Conway we took an evening horse Drawn sleigh ride around NestleNook farms and a one hour snowmobile ride. We did a little shopping and just spent some good old quality time together. It was very nice.

Enjoy some pictures:

Rob and I enjoy some quality time out front.

This is a picture of our room- it was HUGE!

Here I am enjoying the gas fireplace

This is the dining room for breakfast and afternoon tea.

For New Year's Eve, Rob and I took a sleigh ride. We were told it was 4 degrees out side and it certainly felt it:

A very pretty view from our ride

It was SO cold my Sparkling Apple Cider froze!

We were followed by this poor cold donkey

On our way home Rob and I stopped to go Snowmobiling. It was very fun but the belly made it a wee bit uncomfortable.

And then we arrived home to about 4 inches of snow that needed to be shoveled. Rob helped too.
