Dr's update

Nothing. That is pretty much the scoop. Nothing is going on, nothing really is happening.

I was up with contractions last night. They weren't too strong- not strong enough to start keeping track of time but enough to wake me up (and those of you who know me well know that i can sleep through anything so I thought they were impressive). But then they stopped. I hear that happens no big deal. All day today I was crampy and achy and just feeling kinda blah. Then I had my weekly Dr's appointment where I was hoping for great news.

I measured 40 centimeters. The bean was very difficult and kept running away from the doppler when we tried to check his/her heart beat. But we did get a read of over 150 beats per minute- very healthy and vibrant. My little one is doing so well in there.

Then came the big "check". Bean has officially dropped. His/her head is lined up in my pelvis (YEAH). There is cervical softening and effacement (though I don't know how much) YEAH. There is very little dilation (less than one centimeter) BOO! Now in reality this doesn't mean anything- I could still have this baby today if things decided to progress. BUT i think the significant lack of actual contractions implies that will probably not happen. So we are still twoish days away from the big DUE DATE and I am still hopeful for a Valentine's Day baby but only because I think that would be a super rad birthday. I will keep you updated as things progress- or don't.

We have our next dr's appointment scheduled for next Friday where I will have an ultrasound to check amniotic fluid levels, a doctors appointment and then a fetal non-stress test to make sure Bean is holding up in there. Hopefully I will not make it to this appointment but that's the next one.

HUGS

Oh and my apologies to Brice- I am very sorry you don't get to share your birthday with the little one. Maybe we can share a birthweek!

Keep your chin up lovey!!! I know that these days are so frustrating, every little thing and your heart jumps... could this actually be the time??? I often felt contractions more at night, they say that is because you are rested and that is when the baby moves the most and hits your pelvis... Stinks huh??? Just remember good things happen to those who wait... Bean will come when Bean is ready... I know that is such a cliche, but you know with Addi I waited too and if anything it just give you more you and daddy time which is hard to come by when the baby arrives, so kick back, go for a walk and just enjoy life... as my dad says... "Er- I know it stinks right now waiting, but the baby is so much easier to take care of when they are still in your belly..." Hate to admit it... Dad was right!!!
